Happy 2012!

2011 was such an amazing, growing year for me. I learned so much, so many experiences. I got engaged in March, I had such an important job interview (2 actually) and didn't get the job, and in the last half of the year  I've done a lot of self discovery and realized who I am, what I have, and that I am content.

However the are always things we want to change about ourselves. I'm not necessarily calling these new years resolutions because I feel like we can change at anytime, but I understand starting a new year can be starting a new you, so that is what I'm doing. I'm calling it "Project: Work On Myself" to better my mind and my body. There is no beauty or fashion related things in this list, only relevant things to my character and my health.

1. Floss.
(For health reasons, and dental reasons, I need to do so.)
2. Save Money
(Seems obvious, but I've gotten so much better at it, no matter how many hauls I do, no one knows how much is in my savings.)
3. Learn Piano
(Since I've had mono, I've been enriching my mind, one thing I've been doing is learning to read sheet music because in February I am buying myself a keyboard.)
4. Sit Up Straight
(I need to work on my posture; this goes hand in hand with doing more yoga.)
5. Have a More Positive Attitude
(I'm positive and stress free anyway, but everyone could be a little more positive.)
6. Eat Well
(When I eat healthy I feel amazing, and I want this feeling more often.)
7. Drink Water
(This goes with the previous, but I don't drink enough.)
8. Read More
(I don't want to set a number of books to read in 2012, I just want to be non-stop reading.)
9. Take Care of Myself
(This entails being selfish, when I need rest, I take it, when I need a mental health day, I take it.)
10. Actually Write Something
(I have some good ideas for short stories, I just need to put them on paper.)
11. Journal
(Just a few sentences a day. I've already started this.)

I want it to be clear, I'm completely happy with who I am, and these are things I should do naturally, and are achievable. I simply need to listen to my body, my mind, and better myself.

What are the things you want to work on about yourself?

  1. this project sounds wonderful:) i definitely have to floss more, drink more water, sit up straighter (eep), so basically take better care of myself. my SOLID new years resolution is to control my potty mouth and stop swearing and think before i say something because i feel like it will be a good challenge for me as well. and I want to figure out what I'm going to do with my life aswell.

im sorry about your interviews, but don't worry because there will always be more opportunities in the future. xx

  2. I'm going to work on my bad habit of interrupting people when we talk, which goes with also just being a better listening :)

I also want to curb my spending (and thus save) since I'll be graduating and independent soon. To do this I am striving for the mentality of only buying things that I absolutely love and not things that I just like. To do this my little test is that I am only going to buy things that I would be actually willing to buy at full price even if it would be on sale when I buy it. If I only want to buy it when it is on sale then I feel that says that I don't love it, just that I like it.

Wishing us both a productive new year! :)

  3. Hi Sara,
Happy New Year to you! Say, I was hoping you could do a review on the Maybelline Cream Eye Shadow Tattoos...since you like cream shadows, I wondered what your thoughts on those are!
